Third time around. And I still have trouble starting the dang thing. This time, the neckwarmer is a Christmas gift for my mom.
About half way finished at the moment. I decided to go with five base scales. I actually messed up in the beginning and made the base with six, thought it would be fine, turned out too wide, frogged and restarted. Bleh.
I feel it’s taking me longer to complete the neckwarmer, but I think that’s mostly due to having so many Christmas projects on the brain.
Update:
Argh!! So frustrating. I was almost finished when I realized I had messed up a row by creating a scale in the wrong set of DC posts. This was waaay back in the middle of the neckwarmer. So…I had to rip everything out and fix the row. I made extra sure that all the scales were put in their proper places after that.
Fortunately, the crocodile stitch is fairly quick. Probably only cost me an extra day to fix the mistake, but still, I have other Christmas gifts to finish.
Now that the neckwarmer is finished and after trying three different scale amounts for the base row, I can say five is the optimal scale amount.
By the way, here are the chain numbers:
- 4 Scales => CH 21
- 5 Scales => CH 27
- 6 Scales => CH 33
