I was still working on Daisy while sitting at the Blackberry Festival this past weekend, when Allison appeared at my booth and bought it along with Hornet the Hippo! As a bonus for “adopting” more than one of my critters, I made her a “thank-you” baby turtle. It seems the more babies I make, the more “evolved” they become. This one is my favorite one yet. I used the Baby Turtle Instructions - Modified for Buttercup.

For Daisy’s shell trim, I joined the foundation sc into a ring, which made it easier to change colors and gave me a cleaner, more seamless finish. I did the final round so that the right side of it would be on the exposed (topside) side of the ruffle. Instead of just doing a dc in each stitch around, I modified the final round as follows:

Sl st in spiked dc, sc in the next st, hdc in the next 2 sts, 4 dc in the next st (in center of 7-dc group), hdc in the next 2 sts, sc in the next st. Repeat from beginning around.
