Yay: Using a skein of yarn that I fell for when I first signed up for my knitting class a month ago. It’s variegated and I don’t even like variegated yarn. The pink and red combo just grabbed my Valentine’s loving heart and wouldn’t let it go.
Boo: I’m knitting socks. How much older does that make than before I started knitting socks?
Also: This “crazy” part of the yarn is very telling. I’m concerned that I will have two socks in totally different colors. haven’t quite decided whether to put this in the “yay” or “boo” column yet.

Ladies and gentlemen- I have a heel!! Super pumped that I was able to figure out this feat of yarn engineering without any outside help.

Yay: I have just started making the decreases on the toe. It really hasn’t taken me ten years like I thought it might! The yarn also just changed which will make the toe of sock one match the leg of sock two. Definitely fraternal, instead of identical twins.

Yay: I finished the first sock on the four hour drive from my parents house to my in-laws house.
Boo: Now I’m almost done with the leg of the second and I’m ready to be done.
12.30.12
Yay: I’m almost done with the foot of the sock and about 1/2 an inch away from starting my decreases!
Boo: I ran out of yarn. Good thing that these socks were already pre-determined to be “crazy” because I know that my yarn shop doesn’t have another similar color.

Another late update to report that these died a sad and sudden death in the dryer. It brought real tears to my eyes and I stopped knitting for a while.
I took it that hard.
