Made this in size 33 1/2”, as per pattern instruction except for a little detail - for the shoulders, I left the stitches on hold and closed the front and back with a 3 needle bind-off.
Also did not switch to size 5 mm needle as the vest was already more than big enough on the 4.5 mm needle.

Meh. I don’t hate the result, but I guess I’m not head over heels for it either. We’ll see if I actually wear it or not. It’s comfy, but kinda poofy.

I ended up seaming the sides until the edge - didn’t like what it looked like on me with the sides open. Also think it sits at a weird length, and would prefer something a bit shorter. Or longer.

Anyways if I make this again I’ll probably work the body in the round, work a couple decreases for the waist and/or adjust the length and potentially jazz up the (boring) front with a couple cables.
