I’ve made this hat once before using the recommended 3.25-3.5 mm needles but the hat turned out too big. I’m trying this out again but downsizing to 3-3.25 mm needles.

I used 3.25mm needle for cast-on (regular longtail instead of the recommended tubular), then worked the 1X1 rib on 3mm. After that, I switched back to 3.25mm needle and worked the hat in pattern as instructed.

I had only 31 grams left and was hoping I’d make it since I was downsizing the needles, but turns out I ran out of yarn two thirds of the way through. Since the hat is made to match Emily’s infinity scarf, I can’t really replace by a different yarn. When I get back to Canada, I’ll drop by Walmart and see if I can put my hands on some more of that yarn.

Got a matching skein from Walmart, I’m all set to finish this hat now :)

Finished! 41 grams used for the hat, 14 grams used for a pompom for a grand total of 55 grams. I’m glad I chose to downsize the needles, the hat came out perfect!
