For those using markers, and needing help with the math; place your first marker after the 16th stitch, then after the 17th stitch for the last 6 sections. 17x6=102+16=118. You’ll only need to increase one st on row 5, and decrease one stitch on row 57.
10/08 - Caught cast on fever for this one, partially because I had the yarn, and already love it; and partially because I fell in love with the pattern right away!
Cast on w/ 7’s, and I’m glad I did. I’m a fairly tight knitter, and I hate how tight rows can squeak sometimes! No squeaking this time!
10/11 - Nearly finished this one tonight, but I just don’t have the energy for the cast off. I think I’m going to skip the sewn cast off, as I’m using 100% cashmere, and I don’t think it will fare well being pulled through all those stitches, that many times!
10/12 - Wanted to mention mods - I added one extra repeat, between the two purl ridges at the center of the cowl. I’d read some thought the cashmere was extra slouchy, and since I live near Chicago, I needed an extra warm Pretty Thing! It does make it extra tall, though. I like the slouch.
I also had enough yarn to add the extra repeat and still squeak by with a tiny bit of leftovers!
Cast off with size 8’s, and I’m glad I did! I like wearing it up-side down, with the cast off down past my collar bone - and the extra stretch really helps there. It spreads nicely, and the now-top cast-on is stretchy enough to go over my head; but springs back slightly tighter than the cast-off edge.
Overall? I love this pattern! Cute and stylish, and yet an easy knit made with (less than) one ball! I can see many Pretty Things in my future gift knits!
