August 19, 2017:

Well, that magical day has come where all 48 squares are knitted and blocked! Actually, it’s 49, but I FREAKING LOST ONE AND HAD TO REDO IT! Naturally it was one of the ones with a bajillion ends woven in already. I waited till the very end to make it again, and then waited for Murphy’s Law to bite me in the butt. There’s still a chance it will, I have to sew it all together (I find mattress stitch is the best, here is my technique), make a border, knit on the border, then weave in the ton of ends I left for the seams. See ya in October?

May 6, 2017:

30” yarn for center squares.

38” of yarn for the right side bordering 6 rows of center square (incl. row to come back over the center square)

I’m not a fan of the high contrast in the non-tumbling blocks squares, so I’ll be changing them all. My Square 2 reduces the with of each stripe from 10 to 6, and then grades using all 3 colors.

SQUARE 1

52 inches of yarn gets me perfectly to 60sts of PURL long-tail cast-on.

I’m using only the 3 colors that were used in the Tumbling Blocks squares. I am also going to change some of the other crazy squares to be less nutso.
