April 7, 2014: Well -- apparently I screwed up the instructions, though looking back I STILL don’t see the distinction. I thought I could pick between the solid or multi-colored versions of each square -- all 6. But apparently looking at the last clue, I was to make 3 solid and 3 variegated?! Thus, I’ve run out of yarn for two clues and I don’t have the heart to order more. The fix? A lap blanket that is 8x6 instead of 10x6. I’ve omitted the last clue entirely, only have 3 of the beautiful flower one in the corner (too bad) and have omitted 1 each of a couple other clues. Oh well, at least this means it will get done instead of not done?

October 21, 2014: I couldn’t resist this adorable kit from Deramores! It was backordered, so I just got it, even though the CAL started on Oct. 3. I don’t care whether I like it or ever use it, the goal here is to improve my wonky crochet technique and find a way that doesn’t hurt over time. Messing around with different hook grips, tensions and even what hand holds the yarn. Hope this is the training I need!
