Notes

8/4/17 I have finished. It is completely off the needles and the few ends I have woven in. It’s so nice to be done. I am waiting for a nice day when my SO is home to help me get a couple of great completed pictures, but for now I am just happy and relieved it is completed! I didn’t do a 6” border as I think it was too much weight for my poor cables. So I just did a few rows of double knitting to make the steek sandwich and then an icord bind off. I am so very happy with it.

7/12. I have cut my blanket open (new pic posted of it laying flat finally). I have also finished the steel sandwich. I decided on a green border. I’m going g to extend the border from what the pattern calls for. Going to double knit about a 6” border then do a red icord bind off at the end. Will update with a border picture later today or within the next couple of days. My fingers need a bit of a break lol

7/6. I did it I completed the body of this blanket. I, at 5’0, have to hold my arms all the way over my head and dstand straight and tall to hold it up. My SO at 5’10” can hide completely behind it and still has to raise his arms.
It is a perfect 6’0 long and 3’6” wide. I still need to cut it and add the border (probably about 6 inches all the way around). However the most daunting portion is in fact finished!

7/5 19 blocks complete. 1 left. So close

7/3. 3 blocks remaining. If I can keep focused I might be done with the body by the end of the week or next week surely. Keeping fingers crossed.

6\28

5 blocks left. Finish line is in sight for sure!

3/17/17

Half way through the body of the blanket. I can start counting down now. Finished 10 blocks, 10 to go! Rest of my updates might just be my countdown haha

2/10/17

I had to take a break for a bit, but I am making progress again. I am just over 25% through the body of the blanket. I am in love with it still. I just had other things going on (don’t we all?). I have realized a flaw in my plan. THe blanket is super warm and right now in the winter cold it is lovely to work on and keep my lap toasty. However, come summer time when I am assuming I will be closer to the end of the blanket I am going to be scorching!. Oh well might have to put ice packs on my lap at that point to keep from over heating. lol.

12/2/16
So I ordered more yarn than I absolutely needed I know. I will change the totals once I am done and know exactly how much I ended up using.

I started this blanket this past week. I am making 12 block repeats for every row.

This is going to be the coziest squishiest and most beautiful of blankets I am convinced.
my background color is cloud
CC1 is Forest Heather
CC2 is Garnet Heather
CC3 is Solstice Heather

My first couple of rows have loose and kind of sloppy floats, but I have gotten into a better rhythm of holding and managing my yarns so the floats look much better. I will post pictures of front and back as I go.

Right now I have gotten one full repeat done so I am just getting to where I can really see and appreciate the pattern and the beautiful colors. If I had to plan the colors again I might have gone for a green with a bit more yellow in it so it stands out from the blue a bit better, but it isn’t really an issue at and the more I see the colors together the more I like it. Ok I am in love with the yarn and the pattern so this is a blanket that will be a family heirloom I hope for many many years to come.

Loving this. Have 2 rows of block repeats finished. A couple of things to keep in mind with this pattern. It is not a difficult pattern but you do need to use a provisional cast on when you start (as you will be adding a border around the entire blanket when done). I have also changed the steeking pattern slightly. Instead of both CC stitches in the steek being the color of the row currently being worked I am making the first one the color of the previous row and the second the color of the current row. This will allow the color of the last row to have a definite anchor in the steek as some rows end with MC instead of CC. I’m hoping this will keep things nice and secure rather than worrying about loose ends longer than necessary at the end when the steeks are cut.
