Just purchased yarn and the needles for this project. I’m super excited to cast on. This is for my cousin and best friend who is travelling to Ireland for a semester. Excitedly awaiting the package in the post (yarn) so I can get started!
1/10/2015 - Yarn shipped today! Can’t wait for it to arrive so I can cast on!
2/16/2015 - The portion of striped stockinette has been finished, and I’ve pretty much ripped out the entirety of the cabling section three or four times because I’ve been dissatisfied with it. I only have the cables and the picot edging left to do. And I am sad to say that my cousin is actually heading home. Some personal issues have arisen, and she is being pulled from the program in Ireland. :(
I will still complete the shawl because it is a birthday/Christmas present. Let’s hope she feels better!
2/22/2015 - Really getting into the cables now (just finished row 15), and they are perfect! I had one issue of me just losing track of where I was, and so the stitches are not super well tensioned in that spot, but apart from that no mistakes have been made. My stitch count is right on track. So, I guess determination was key all along! Look forward to working a lot more on this soon, but for now, I should really go study for that French exam tomorrow. :/
2/28/2015 - Just finished with row 30. I read on someone else’s project that it was a tricky row because it wasn’t the usual pearl every stitch. Fuck, I’ve got the hiccups. Had to frog a row or two because I missed it. Starting on 31 now.
3/3/2015 - I am at the end of my three skeins of knit picks palette in blush. Perhaps my gauge is too loose, but I am about 150 yards over the yardage estimate, and only at the end of row 43. So close! I’ll order another at the end of the week. Hopefully the dye lot is close. I’m nervous. So close to getting this done! But for now, I just work on my other projects.
3/20/2015 - Pattern is finished, and shawl is now blocking. I soaked the wool in eculan wool wash for 20 minutes. Took the shawl directly from bath without wringing (I did let the excess water drip out), and then rolled it up in two or three towels. I stepped carefully on the roll, and then layed it out to pin. Should be finished in a few hours, hopefully!
