11/22/07 I’m staring at the empty drum carder knowing that its time now to begin
12/11 Test batt started, but coming up different than I expected.
12/16 Well, I may know why I’m having problems now, it was a combination of things, but the biggest culprit was a small dog brush!
1/1/08 Tomorrow it will be one year since we lost her…sigh…I’m going upstairs to work on the blend.
1/7 Well, after feeling the batts, this is no cardigan, its a shawl. The Pi Are Square shawl to be exact.
6/10 Well, another batt carded…sigh….
8/13 Getting back to carding. Video of batt carding has been reviewed and commented on. I can now press on with carding.
11/7 3 more batts blended.
12/8 Back to carding after yet another hiatus.
12/14 16 batts carded. Will hold off carding more until I see how it is spinning.
3/16/09 2 batts spun into semi-worsted singles. Getting ready to ply. Also reviewed KA video about Pi Are Square shawl.
3/21 Finished plying will finishup yarn for a swatch test.
5/31 Semi worsted was not very good. Very harsh feeling. Now working on spinning some semi-woolen and seeing if that is any better.
7/3 Semi woolen makes a much better more drapey yarn. Spun 1 bobbin of semi woolen (4 batts) and started 2nd batts. Will be working on this during the Tour de Fleece.
7/15 All yarn spun and washed
7/21 Started knitting shawl
7/28 First 3 increase rounds done w/less than 2 oz of yarn, however the use of the yarn goes up expodentially with each increase.
8/8 Still working on 24 ridge increase band, but the increase row is soon
9/16 A little over 1/2 way through the 48 ridge section and it’s now too big for train knitting. It is now limited to knitting in the car :(
10/7 About to start last skein of yarn.
10/19 Um, out of yarn…must blend and spin more…
12/17 4 more batts blended
3/4 Yarn spun, plied, washed and wound into the ball. Back knitting again!
3/20 Over 1/2 done with edging…
4/11 Done Done Done!
