30/5/08 Finished! I ended up by doing the yoke single stranded with 4mm needles, the neck doubled with 4.5mm needles and the body doubled with 5mm needles! I love it. The beautiful wooden buttons are from a wood shop in a town called Leura in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia. It was either buy these, or the AU$11K clock! I need to re-attach the larger button more tightly, however.
7/5/08 I’ve done 85cm of the cable for the yoke, and it’s come out narrower than Miss Twiss’ one (about 8.5-9cm rather than 11cm). I think I’ll need to lengthen the yoke proper a little, therefore. ennjoying it! I think I’ll probably do the cable a bit shorter too, as I am narrowish, so may all work out fine…
11/3/08 I am going to change the yarn - will use the lovely ecoyarn for something else, and have ordered some green flecked Rowan yarn from cucumberpatch (rowanspun aran) as the deep brown is too lightweight and too uniform a dark colour for cables, I’ve decided.
1/3/08 So, I’m going to do KIC in this lighter weight yarn, a sheep-coloured yarn from Ecoyarns. It’s a merino, dye-free, chemical-free certified organic yarn from Treliske on the South Island of New Zealand. Yum! Smells (slightly) of sheep.
However, I am going to use the cable pattern from the arms of Silver Belle (Debbie Bliss on-line freebie from Vogue’s Silver Anniversary issue) and add a bit extra to the sides of that in place of the KIC cabels in the yoke. Also, I think I’ll use the Silver Belle cables in the body fo teh sweater. However, I’m totally going to nick Miss Twiss’s construction which is WAY nicer in IMHO.
