7th of Apr:
Today I knitted two swatches (which are now blocking), so it’s official, I started the project. :) I’ve heard that Tosh merino light grows quite alot after blocking, so I decided to do two swatches and block them. I used 2.0mm and 2.5mm needles.
26th of Apr:
It took me this long to actually start. I’m going with 2,5mm needles and doing a size S, which should grow to be bit bigger, sort of S/M leaning towards M. We’ll see…
1st of May:
co 14 sts (instead of 12) for the sleeve.
->
waist shaping: k 52sts, pm, k 112sts, pm, k52
4th of May:
I somehow had managed not to start the knitting with my 2.5mm needle. Instead, I realised, after two cc stripes, that I’m using a 3.00mm needle. I changed for the thinner one, and I’m just hoping that the gauge will even out in blocking, if not before. The second mc section is a bit tighter than the first one.
23rd of May:
I did one less of the waist increase rounds since I had more stitches for the armholes than in the pattern in size S. I’ve got 223 sts, I must have forgotten to increase 1 stitch at some point, but I’m not going to bother find it and fix it.
10th of Jun:
I did the first decreases when the sleeve measured 22cm. I had 70 sts to begin with, since I saw many saying that the sleeves are too tight. Mine seems to come out alright.
Button band and the collar are done already. I’m afraid that my collar won’t curve enough. Let’s see if I’ll have the energy to do it again and add a few more short rows.
19th of Jun:
Second decrease round is after 8th cc stripe + 1 mc row. Sleeve is about 29,5cm long.
Third decrease round after 9th cc stripe + 5 mc rows. Length about 35cm. Continued st st until sleeve measures 36cm.
26th of Jun:
Never going to get th sleeves match in stripes and in width. Too much variation in gauge, and too many days ad weeks without knitting the project. (Again almost finished another sweater in the meantime.)
2nd of Jul:
It’s done. And it fits. It grew a lot in blocking, but that’s just what I was counting on when choosing size S. I should have done the upper part garter stitch with smaller needles, but I’ll live with it. It’s not perfect, but it’s very good. And there ws a point when I feared I would be a disaster. So, I feel relieved (for not spending way too much money on a disaster) and happy (it’s so pretty and I’ve got plenty of yarn left for something else nice).
And I’m so glad I found buttons of perfect shade of purple.
