Cast on 46 stitches with size 5 needles. knit 1x1 ribbing for 9 rounds.
Switch to size 7 needles after YOs. Knit 11 rows.

Then to make the cap sleeves:

BO7 K2tog as you bind off twice
then K2togTBL as you bind off twice
BO 8 more stitches. A total of 23 off.

Knit 23 stitches. BO in the same manner as above and then knit 23 more stitches.

CO 5 sts under arms for cute chubby body.

switch to size 9 needles. Knit to desired length and then finish with a picot hem.

Knit 4 rounds then on round 5 do: * knit 2 tog, yo repeat from * to end, yo.
Rounds 6 -9: knit.
Cast off leaving a LONG tail, fold hem in half so that the points made by the yo’s are even and so the cast off tucks under to the inside of the vest. Then whipstitch the cast off to the corresponding purl on the inside of the vest. repeat until finished.

Finished measurements after blocking: 6 3/4” wide and 3 1/2” long from under arm to bind off.

I would follow the same mods and use worstedyarn next time around.I only used the super bulky because I wanted it to match my daughter’s shirt.
