My yardage is a guesstimate. I had to alternate between 3 different skeins of yarn to prevent pooling. I used at least 2 1/2 skeins total, though.

I wanted to make this sweater a bit loose on my daughter so that it would fit over winter woolen layers. If I didn’t want it to fit over thick layers I would just cast on the 67sts the pattern calls for instead of adding on an extra 10sts, as I did. It looks ridiculously wide when on a hanger but just right when on her body, even though she’s a tall string bean…if that makes sense.

Finished measurements after blocking:
sleeves - 13 1/2” from underarm
body length from top of shoulder - 18”

Added shell buttons.

Used a cable cast on and casted on 77 stitches instead of the 67 it called for.

Did 7 repeats of the twisted ribbing instead of 9 to make it a bit shorter for my 6 year old.

Added buttonholes every 14 rows (I think).

Added sleeves to make it a cardigan instead of a vest. So for row 45 : K32, place next 37sts on holder,CO 10 sts, K57 for back, place next 37sts on holder, CO 10sts, k32.

Followed someone elses decrease mods (wish I remembered who to give them credit!): Pick up 37sts from holder then pick up 22sts under the arm placing a marker at 11sts. Decrease as follows:

round 1: knit
2: k1,ssk, k to 3sts before marker, k2tog, k1 = 57 sts
3: repeat round 2 = 55sts
4: repeat round 2 = 53sts
5: repeat round 2 = 51sts
6: repeat round 2 = 49sts
7: repeat round 2 = 47sts
8: knit
decrease every 5th row or so until you reach 40sts. knit until about 2 1/2” away from desired length. Do twisted rib pattern.

I also added the twisted rib pattern to the bottom of the sweater as well as to the cuffs. It looks so cute on her with those additions.

Made the same mods on this as I did my own shalom with a couple of mods. need to type up the notes before I forget them!

I have ripped this out more times than I want to remember :( Almost done now…I think I can, I think I can….

Decrease sleeves to 40 stitches

Ok 8 was too small, 10 was way too big..will 9 be the magic size?

Size 8 made the yoke too small moving up to 9 or 10…

size 8 or 9 needles?
