Notes

This design was inspired by a Lily Chin crocheted vest pattern (pattern # H003) for her Signature yarn, “Harlem.”

I loved it and made it, BUT when I finished it and tried it on the circular bottom made my rear-end look wide. The back is one half granny square (at the top) and one half circle (at the bottom). So I decided to see if I could alter the pattern and create a sweater (I plan to add sleeves) with a granny square back.

So far so good, although I will try it again with a “J” hook. I changed the hook to “I” but kept the dimensions essentially the same, so it is a little small. But I’m thinking once it’s washed and dried, it’ll hang a little better.

I’m keeping notes so it will be a pattern eventually. I think I’ve changed it enough (I was told 30% when I did a project for a yarn brand) so that I can call it my own.

By the way, the stitch is treble crochet which makes the sweater a little lacy looking and light enough for the weather here in Hawaii. But I’m also thinking about using a lighter weight yarn at some point.
