I Joined The Natural Dye Studio’s Bessie’s Blanket Club, it was a treat to myself.
You got 200 grms of yarn a month for however many months you pay in advance for. Plus all the blanket patterns.
Well worth it.
The yarn is beautifully soft and a real pleasure to work with.
Have bought more yarn from NDS, and a couple of other places, as I want to make sure I have enough yarn, well, that’s my excuse :)
Finally got it out of hibernation to finish.
Well that was the theory, in practise however I have been sidetracked by darling daughter No.1 who is moving house and wants a lacy panel for her front door, so that has to be completed soon as. Then I can get back to ‘That Blanket’.
Other things have crept in to distract me, making Christmas presents for the family. You know how it is, must get things made for others before you make something for yourself.
Am now working hard on it every minute (November 2012).
December. 1. 2012 - I have completed 196 triangles. Who knows what size it will be, we shall see, now I have to crochet them all together. I have chosen a contrasting yarn, Phildar Navy, it’s pure wool, everything crossed for it to look good.
December. 7. 2012. Wasn’t able to begin blocking it yesterday, here’s hoping I’ll manage to do it sometime within the next few days, then I can take a photo. Taken some photos, but haven’t been able to block as weather is against me, cannot take it out to the camper as that has the biggest available space.
December 11 2012 - Blanket is now being blocked in the camper.
January 2013 - I noticed the blanket was getting longer, enven though it had been blocked. What I had wanted was a more squareish shape rather than an oblong. So, I unpicked the edging all the way round, and took off 3 strips of triangles and separated each triangle from it’s neighbour. When I had crocheted it together, I did strips of 14 triangles in length, and crocheted them together, made 14 strip in all. However, my brain hadn’t realised that I needed more triangles along the width than the length if I wanted it squareish.
I added the triangles to the width, and had to make 2 more to finish it of properly. Then I did the crochet edging again, and it looks a lot better, and fits on the bed properly. The final size is approx. 4ft 6ins x 4ft.6ins, give or take an inch or 2 either way.
Our cat has decided she loves it and snuggles down for a sleep among it’s softness whenever our backs are turned…bedroom door firmly shut now ;)
