Gauge swatching! 1st try at provisional cast on.

Swatch is perfect…gosh, I love this yarn. Lovely stitch definition. Needed to go to 8s to get gauge. Practiced the cast on & the lace, and feel somewhat confident. This is an intimidating pattern, but in reading everyone’s notes, and having found a group for support, I’m going to just take the leap and have faith that it will work out! Color is more navy than the picture shows.

Grr. After nearly 2 lace repeats, realized I am working on 1 too few stitches. Frogged to the beginning again. And now I’m freaking out a bit over the cast on stitches.

8/4 Recast on, on waste yarn, much better. Through 6 lace repeats now & going to set it aside for just a couple of days, as I’m soon to get to the neck part & will need to pay attention! Love the look of the lace.

8/14. Really? Only 10 days? Anyway, I am to the 2nd neckband. I have learned NOT to read ahead in the pattern…it only confuses me. Just take it one step at a time. It works out. Trust the pattern.

8/25. And just like that, I have a vest!! Trust, trust, trust the pattern. Now it’s smooth sailing to the end. New glamour shots.

10/1. Casting off the vest, just have to finish the armholes, and done!

10/3 Finished. A little light damp blocking only for shaping, and it’s done in time to give mom! Not a great picture…hopefully to get some on the new owner!
