This was basically an exercise for myself in computer graphics and machine knitting. I’ve been teaching myself to use GIMP, which is the open source version of Photoshop, and have learned so much! Anyway, I wanted to knit up a bunch of examples of some of the images I’d been working with, in different versions, differing amounts of contrast and dithering.

As you look at the whole piece, the image second down from the top is the result of running the photo directly through img2track, with no other manipulation on my part. I think that from a distance it’s the most “photographic”-looking. All others I altered prior to selecting with img2track.

This was a fun knit, and an interesting project. I may eventually make these into a bunch of pillows.
