Surprise socks for new mom Sarah. She’s a ravenclaw through and through. But I may run out of yarn and have to finish the toes is a different yarn so I might keep them for myself. Turns out they will be too big for Sarah. So I’ll keep them.
01-23-2014: Completed cuff in sapphire, since the first row of the lace pattern is knit all stitches, I knit one in sapphire and 1 in bronze and then did first pattern repeat in bronze (carried the sapphire up the side). The final two lace rows are K all stitches so I again alternated yarn color in the last row.
01-25-2014: Nearly finished the second pattern repeat in bronze but had to tink several times as I kept forgotting the second yarn over.
01-26-2014: Finished bronze stripe and started sapphire stripe.
01-30-2014: Had to wait longer than expected for some lab work so I knit a bunch while the vampires sharpened their fangs.
02-09-14: heel flappage!
02-10-14: Flap done and heel turned. Started the gussets.
02-11-14: Gussets almost done - one more decrease round and then I can zoom through the foot.
02-17-14: Finished 2 color repeats, may end up regretting carrying the stripe along the bottom of the foot when I’m wearing these but I want the toe to match the heel and figured this would be an easy way to avoid weaving in ends…
03-02-14: Kitchnered the toe and weaved in all the ends (also tightened up the heel turn and closed a gap at the top of the heel flap). Sock fits well. Now to start the second…
03-08-14: Cast on second sock and knit 3 repeats on flights to Hawaii.
03-10-14: Sat on the lanai facing the coastline of Waikiki and knit a few rounds. So gorgeous.
03-14-14: Knit a few more rounds post-nap in Kailua on our last day in Hawaii.
03-15-14: Finished last bronze repeat of the leg on flight back to the mainland.
03-23-14: Finished final sapphire repeat of the leg & set up the heel flap during church.
05-18-14: 3 more rows of toe decreases then I can kitchner and tuck!
05-23-14: kitchnered the toe and tucked the ends!
