Hey everyone! I made the semi-finals!!!
On January 6th, Susan Gibbs, owner/operator of Juniper Moon Farms and in conjunction with KFI announced the JMF yarns line pattern contest. This is due in a box & postmarked by February 15th (UPDATE: I guess due to overwhelming popularity, the deadline was moved to March 1, 2012). Plenty of time you say, but I’ve only got 4 weeks to squeeze this in with other projects I am doing that are due by mid-February too.
This is great for 3 reasons:
-
2012 is my year to challenge myself. I plan to write 2 crochet patterns for a female matching adult hat & scarf.
-
The second part of this challenge is to write the pattern. I don’t really follow patterns; I design my own stuff, but never write anything down, so the structure of having to write a pattern for a project in progress will be nerve wracking - but fun.
-
The third part of the challenge is that I can only use 1 or 2 skeins/balls of JMF Chadwick or Willa. Since crocheting uses 30% more yarn on average, I’ve chosen Chadwick since it has more yardage than Willa. Plus its squishy soft so i think of a kitten whenever I touch it.
I. Know. I. Can. Do. This. :)
UPDATE 2/26/12: Yep, I did it!! :)
Inspiration for this cowl came from Christie’s Cloche and the shell edging. I wanted something a bit open and decidedly feminine. And something that would make the eye travel down the project. Plus it is super easy to do and can be sized to fit any age.
