Second time:
CO 100 sts and worked on US 6 needles to tighten up gauge and accomplish a hat that is slightly smaller than the size L. It’s probably a pinch too small - too small for the brim to stand out, but it feels nice on. This hat is toooo tall, as you can see in the second picture. I will have to rip it back to the end of the cable design chart and start decreases sooner.

So… this is really big on me, and I was so frustrated that I had to put it in time out. I know my head is 20”, I used to work for a small company that made custom felt hats. Someone asked me if I got gauge on this, and honestly I hadn’t checked that, so now I have, and my gauge is pretty accurate, if not a pinch tight. Should definitely have fit.

I think I am going to go down a needle size and also improvise a hat size in between the M & L - CO 100. We’ll see what happens. I just can’t leave this pretty yarn / pattern in time out any longer.
