These are top-down in a basic pattern. Garter rib cuff, dutch square heel, same old foot and toe.
The yellow yarn is an unknown, but I wanted a bright heel and toe. The body is a hand-dyed Knit Picks Hawthorne.
These are for happy feet!
Cast on 60 Sts.
Ribbing: Row 1: Knit, Row 2: k1, p1.
Repeat (13 rows) ending with a row 1.
Switch to contrast yarn and knit across 30 stitches.
Heel Flap: Row 1: s1, p1 repeat to end. Row 2: s1, knit to end.
Repeat for 30 rows total.
Dutch Heel: Set Up: sl1, p19, p2t, turn.
Row 1: s1, k10, ssk, turn.
Row 2: s1, p10, p2t, turn.
Repeat rows 1 & 2 until 12 stitches are left, ending with Row 1. In the final row, change to Main Colour Yarn.
Gusset:
p.u. 16+1 stitches, knit across 30, p.u. 1+16 stitches.
Row 1: knit to 3 before 30, k2t, k1. knit 30 stitches. k1, ssk, knit to centre heel.
Row 2: knit all stitches.
Repeat these 2 rows until 30 stitches remain on both needles.
Foot: Knit until 2” from end of toe. For me, that is 7” from the edge of the heel (in contrast colour) on the bottom of the foot.
Toe: Switch to Contrast Colour Yarn.
Row 1: k1, ssk, knit to 3 before end, k2t, k1. Repeat on second needle.
Row 2: knit all stitches.
Repeat these 2 rows until 12 stitches remain on each needle.
Graft the toe and sew in all the ends.
