When I saw dibadu’s gorgeous version of this shawl, I knew I had to make one. I’m so glad I did; I enjoyed every stitch. Really; I need to emphasize just how much FUN this project was! Color is definitely a mood-altering substance, and I really indulged with this project.

This is a beautifully written pattern. Once you get in the groove, the stacked stitches are easy and intuitive. It’s important to verify you have the correct number of stitches in each repeat, and to figure out just where each stacked element should fall relative to the rows below (the CDDs provide excellent landmarks), but once you’ve established these guideposts, it’s smooth sailing. I can’t wait to tackle another project with stacked stitches!

Gentle blocking was all that was needed. I stretched out the top on blocking wires to get a nice straight line, then just pulled the rest of it into shape and patted down the points--no pins.

After this gentle blocking, wingspan is 80 inches (203.2 cm).

I’m seriously considering knitting another one and joining the two to make a poncho.
