Another yarn test for Vivid Fiber Arts! This time I’m creating the Windmill Shawl using a new fingering weight 50% cotton/50% bamboo base in the Sonrisa colorway.
Quick note about the pattern: I started out using an I hook but the look wasn’t tight enough for my taste so I backed down to an H. I probably could have kept going down to a G to make some lovely little stitches but the H is giving a nice shape. The stitches are close enough to show off the beautiful VFA gradient and the chains give a great look while not looking too droopy. Very easy and quick pattern with a fantastic payoff in the looks department, which I love. :)
This yarn is less shiny and more dense than the previous tencel, it’s more of a traditional cotton look/feel. It slides nicely through the hand without being slippery. So far the color change has been long and gradual, something I rarely experience in other “gradient” yarns. (Quotes added because crocheted gradient typically ends up in stripes. lol) It’s absolutely beautiful to look at and work with.
I’m having as much fun taking pictures of the yarn as I am hooking with it. Almost…lol
2/24/2015 - I’m all finished with very little yarn left over! With this pattern, you can keep on hookin’ without having to count or keep track. lol
This yarn is fantastic! Will add more notes after final light blocking.
