Seamed:

• Cuff: leave 18” tail from long-tail cast-on (just on one of the pair); work 5 rows k1,p1 rib
• Hand: Row 1: purl; Row 2: k5, m1R, k2, m1L, k5 (14 sts); Row 3: purl (in C1 if doing 2 row stripes); Row 4: k5, m1R, k4, m1L, k5 (in C1 if doing 2 row stripes); Row 5: purl
• Thumb: knit 10; slip last 4 sts knitted onto dpn; work 3 rows i-cord on these 4 sts for thumb, k2tog twice, break off yarn, thread through remaining 2 sts, fasten off
• Work upper part of mitten hand as per pattern.

In the round:

• Cast on 12 sts & divide for magic loop
• Work 5 rows k1,p1 rib
• Knit 1 round
• Inc: k6, m1R, k1, m1L, k5
• Knit 1 round
• Inc: k6, m1R, k3, m1L, k5
• Knit 1 round
• Inc: k6, m1R, k5, m1L, k5
• Thumb: k12, slip last 5 sts knitted onto dpn; work 3 rows i-cord on these 5 sts for thumb, k2tog, k1, k2tog, break off yarn, thread through remaining 3 sts, fasten off Upper hand: rejoin yarn at base of thumb, pick up 1 st each side of base of thumb, k to end (15 sts)
• k 7 rows
• k2tog 3 times, k1, k2tog 3 times
• thread yarn through rem 8 sts, tighten and fasten off

Finishing:

• Hanger: thread long end from cast on of 1st mitten onto tapestry needle, thread through edge of cuff on 2nd mitten (thumb side); reattach to 1st mitt firmly, leaving a 9” double strand between 2 mittens; twist & double to create a twisted cord hanger.
• Fasten off any ends, trim to about 3-4” and use to stuff the mitten.
