Ya - Happy New Year! I’ve got the linen washed now I’m ready to ball it in anticipation of starting the knitting fun.

I’m truly inspired by CS Lewis - just ask me the names of my Great Danes - and thought that the Magician’s Nephew where they were in the land between worlds would make a beautiful stitch pattern for a cowl. So I’ll be swatching that first. If it doesn’t work as planned, I have a back up lace idea in mind.

January 4, 2016

Swatching over the weekend I discovered in order to get the lace to look like I wanted, I’d have to break the yarn. The yarn was just too lovely and I couldn’t! So I decided to switch designs and swatched out a few until the yarn finally spoke to me.

Made 3 pattern repeats yesterday and am enjoying the simplicity of the stitch and the beautiful colors of the yarn!

Speeding through the cowl now (almost done the first skein) and getting the pattern typed up so I can check it on the next few repeats. Now, if only I could remember to take my camera into the family room or bring my knitting into my office, I’d get a progress pic - putting it on today’s list of things to do

Up to the bind off - ya! Beads are the wrong size, boo. Searching for size 3/0 Japanese Seed beads in color Capri for the bind off.

January 13, 2016

I found the beads! Okay, I found solid Capri or Silver-Lined Teal. Ordered both because they were on sale. Can’t wait to see which matches the yarn best :-).

The beads arrived! After much debating, I decided to go with the silver lined teal instead of the solid Capri blue. In real life the 2 beads were nearly identical in color save the silver lining.

Beaded bind off & the pattern is done!

All that’s left is a wash and blocking for the sample.

Check back in the Knit Eco Chic group this March for a KAL on the design!

This design is inspiring me to write! I hope you all enjoy the theme of the KAL :-).

This weather is nuts! The snow finally melted as it finally warmed up today so I thought photo shoot. Got all dressed up like I was in the tropics, with the addition of sweatpants under my dress because it was still too cold for what I was wearing. Drove down to the local “lagoon” and due to the downpour, it is completely washed out. Snow is forecast for this weekend, so I going the indoor shot route. Pics to come :-).
