I’m a tight knitter and my shawl came out about 90% of expected size. Yes, I should have swatched. But since gauge was listed as after blocking, I was scared I’d run out of yarn if I couldn’t re-use my swatch like I usually do. So I just plowed ahead! Even though it’s smaller than expected, the shawl is still a fine size for wearing, so I’m not disappointed at all. As it is, I barely got into the 3rd skein of Chickadee, so now I have the unexpected joy of almost a full skein of Chickadee left for my stash! What will I make with it…..?

If I do this again, I’ll probably bump my needles up a size to 7. Blocking is magic, and the shawl gained a lot of size in the process, which was my saving grace with this project.

I absolutely loved knitting this pattern, especially learning the new technique for applied lace edging.
