The tunic was named “Mission Missoni failed” because I first had the idea for a sweater in Missoni style which looked more and more ugly after parting the yoke for body and sleeves.
I reused the yarn, the lilac has already been used for the second time and therefore was devided in umpty parts.
Nadita’s “Soo feminine” was a great inspiration and my first option was to use up the yarn in any way. So I did a little math because I had another gauge as given in Nadita’s pattern, and I wanted shorter sleeves. I had no idea whether the yarn amount was sufficient.
You can nearly always rely in math. I had a leftover of 2,5 m from the violet yarn, the variegated yarn has shrunk to 15 gr.
I started the tunic in Dec. 2012 and had lost nearly 30 kg since. So my first considerations to form the neckline by panels in front and back in the width of the neckline had failed. I lost more than 35 cm in circumference and had to skip the panels. But how to create the neckline then? A friend gave me advice for cut & sew. Before I was willing to do this I tried the tunic on and detected, that fortunately garter stitch is very variable and adapts to the body forms. So I worked a three-needle-bind-off in front and back.
There ist not a single part of sewing in the whole tunic.
I finished the borders with rolled edges.
