Stashed - using Camel and Maritime

April 5, 2017

Cast on a sleeve…finished the cuff. I need to lengthen these by 2 “…….for full length sleeves. Body will also be 2” longer… at least :)

April 6, 2017 - Gettng Gauge

Not getting gauge with 3.25 so trying 3mm signatures.

Marie knits at a firm gauge…..I really like the fabric of this and know it will hold its shape.

April 11, 2017 - Make mine full length -Sleeves!

First sleeve finished. Did 3 extra rows per increase row to lengthen by approx 3 inches.

April 15, 2017 - Outlander!

I cast on for the back, knit the rib, then 4 days have passed and I’ve not knit a stitch…..Netflix + Outlander……. Today I need to get past the fair isle bit on the back of this sweater…so that I can watch and knit at the same time

April 26, 2017 - back done!

Added 2cm length to armhole before shoulder and neckline shaping. It looked like the sleeve cap was longer…..did Stephen West short rows on the shoulder shaping and will leave these stitches live for 3 needle bind off!

May 1, 2017 - Sleeves!

Finished the second sleeve tonight…so just the fronts with the large motif to go!

May 23, 2017 - Fronts, moving quickly!

I’m surprised at how quickly the cardigan front pieces work up! Left done, right almost :) Just uploaded a photo showing how a little steam press transforms the fabric! Looking forward to wearing this :)

Seaming up and doing the bands….

June 4, 2017 - rippit!

Just ripped out the button band. When doing cardigan bands, I pick up in every row, then on the first row of the rib I decrease down to the number that the pattern calls for (or that I have decided on). The button band was done and then I did the buttonhole band. For some reason I decided that on the buttonhole band, I would ONLY do decreases on the body of the sweater…that I’d do the band on the fair isle band at the bottom of the cardigan as is - no decreasing. This made the buttonhole band perfect at the top and slightly looser on the bottom, which means it hangs better because there is no button down there.

So, I had to rip out the button band because I’d done the decreases evenly, which I would normally do….but that made the bottom on this side sit up a bit. Yes it would have blocked/pressed out….but you know it would never be as relaxed as the other side….so out it had to come!

June 10, 2017 - DRATS!

The sweater is done…the buttons are on….and I hang it up and take this photo…see it? The one side seems to hang perfectly while the other poofs out somehow. DRATS!!!

So, next comes the full wash dry blocking…..and we will see what we will see :)
