Notes

Never again Homespun. I started this to use up 4 skeins I bought in the winter of 2003 along with a pattern for a children’s pullover, thinking I’d make B a sweater with it. Well, I had a hard time telling my knits from my purls with this yarn, so I started a weird freestyle afghan thing that didn’t really work out. In an attempt to use up the Homespun and get it out of my life, I decided to try this pattern from Lion. Well. I don’t find Homespun easy to work with, knitting 35 squares with 24 stitches and 24 rows each seemed like a good idea but quickly turned into repetitive toil (and that was after I’d only completed 7 of the 35). I had to purchase 3 or 4 additional skeins to complete this, and even then I fudged a little with the all-blue squares in the center and four corners. Then came the sewing together of all those damn squares. Note to self: don’t try another pieced together thing unless you get better at and more patient with hand sewing.
Final dimensions: 61”x41” with the crocheted border - almost the dimensions in the pattern (40”x56”).
