Pattern isn’t actually from Vintage Baby Knits, my copy is in the Newlands Baby Book (as far as I can tell - mine is missing the cover), but appears to be identical. Size is slightly different.

Start neck decreases at 5 + 9

Liz, I apologise for how the back of the hood is going to look. Grafting this many live stitches results in worn-out yarn to begin with , and realising that you have a mistake at the end & picking the seam out isn’t good for the yarn at all.

18 + 22 + 18 scs

Worked sc down the fronts as well - neatened the edges, and reinforced the buttonholes. This means the hood needs sc all the way around (to match the fronts).

Hood to body - back stitch through the sc, with right sides together.
