My daughter Cathy has asked me to make another gingham blanket for her to give to one of her friends who is expecting a baby boy (you can find the first one I made here). This time I have decided to use 3 blues and white and to change the square from a granny to Square 53 from 99 Granny Squares to Crochet book. It is a little different from a granny at the centre.

I am using the join as you go method to join the squares, as I hate sewing them together and will do anything to get of that. This is the technique I used this time

I can see that I will probably have to make another one of these as Cath has two friends expecting baby boys, so I can’t give one without the other:)

Added a simple border:-

Rd 1: 2hdc, ch 2, 2hdc into corner, hdc into each stitch.
Rd 2: 2dc, ch 2, 2 dc into corner, crossed dc all around.
Rd 3: The same as rd 1.
