This is a great, simple to knit pattern where the design is made entirely in the shaping of short rows.

I got 19 feathers out of a single skein of the red/feather but needed more than 1 skein of the background colorway.

I did not use any stitch markers, and used primarily the row by row printed instructions. The initial explanation the pattern author offers is a bit more information than you need once you get going. It is a great point of reference if you are learning how to do the short rows or want to know the thought process.
