Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

On March 2, 2011, U.S. Airman Nicholas Alden was killed in the Frankfurt Germany airport shooting. He leaves behind a young wife and two young children, ages 3 and 1. They recently relocated to an Air Force base in England and two months later were saying goodbye for an upcoming deployment.

This young Airman was located at the base we live on. The other Airman was doing a job my husband does every day. This hit so close to home. When a call came up for donations for the family, Laura Chau was wonderful enough to give me permission to use her Dipped Infinity Scarf in my donation. A military wife close by won the auction and as soon as I finish this, I’ll hand deliver it to her. I hope she will treasure it.

This will be a heartbreaking knit for me but I’m so glad I could help in some way.

I finally have finished pictures uploaded. I delivered this to the woman who won the auction in person and I have to say, 1. she looked just beautiful in it and 2. it was the first time I gave someone a knit item of mine in person and it was amazing to see her reaction. I still smile thinking about it months later.
