Oct.11--I forgot to post about Babette! Here are my mods:
-
When making the squares, I started the new rounds in the corner, not in the middle of a side--it avoids the obvious jog, makes for a cleaner square, and the new rounds are nearly impossible to detect
-
I had enough yarn to make squares for all the sections except section ten--which was okay with me because I wanted a rectangle instead of a square. If you want to make the entire blanket, add one extra colorway, for a total of six balls (one ball for the edging)
-
After finishing the squares, I slipped stitched the squares together using a size B hook. Remember to slip stitch loosely for good ease
-
I used the second ball of #95 to crochet three rounds of double crochet around the Babette
Sept. 8--Started the Babette whilst on vacation in Illinois. I decided to go with this yarn because of the beautiful colorways. Also, I thought it fairly impossible to try and find all of the Koigu colors needed for the blanket. The final size will depend on where I am in regards to yardage on the sock yarn--but I do want a rectangle. I am partial to lapghans, so it may end-up smaller than called for. I made two copies of the pattern--one to use highlighters and assigned colors to the squares--also, use the highlighters to color the ballbands that correspond to the squares. The second copy is used as a map when putting the squares together.
