My project notes from last time indicate that I wasn’t completely satisfied with my results, but I’m giving it another try-- this time for the little son of one of my cousins. :o)
I’m calling him “Hershel” (get it? HerSHELL?) in honor of a favorite character from The Walking Dead. ;o)
I’m more satisfied with the results this time. I still have to embroider the face-- not a favorite task-- but I like the shape of the turtle better, this time.
I added one round to the abdomen, because it seemed a bit too small. I don’t know if I attached the appendages to the abdomen first, last time, but it didn’t feel familiar. Having everything connected to the bottom before joining the shell makes it much more manageable. There’s still a lot of seaming, though (for the shell, mainly)-- and those tiny legs are painful to crochet!
I didn’t like the way the tail was coming out-- painful to make, and too “fat” in proportion to the body-- so I just chained 5 or 6 and worked back down the chain-- one sc per chain. That seems to have worked well.
