Feeling jittery and need a new, portable project. This seems like a good choice.

Felt a bit repetitive and slow in the middle, but maybe that was just because of my mood. Now that I’m on Rnd 27 (out of 33) it feels more flowing and enjoyable.

However, I am worried that I will run out of thread… I must’ve misread the yardage requirements, and I have only one ball of this thread. Even if I buy more of the same color, it obviously won’t be the same dyelot, but that’ll probably have to be close enough.

Oops! Lesson learned: Always double-check the yardage requirements! This doily is a lot bigger than it looked in photos! (g)

I still have three or four rounds to go, and the ball of thread is nearly gone. I’m putting this one in time-out until I can take a snippet of the thread shopping to compare in the store (assuming I can find the same color in stock, anywhere around here). If it’s a close enough match, I’ll buy a ball and finish the pattern as written. If it’s not, I’ll just use a contrasting color and do my best to fudge a semi-decent edging.

Found and bought a ball of thread that looks like a pretty close color match, though it’s not even the same brand. (Old ball was Aunt Lydia’s; new one is Artiste.)

Finished. So glad to be done with this one. I don’t love crocheting mesh, and I have unpleasant memories associated with this project (not its fault), but I think it will be pretty once it’s blocked into shape. I haven’t done a close inspection in bright daylight, but I think the color match is the best I could have hoped for-- not a perceptible difference between the old thread and the new.
