Notes

Cast on 120 sts with Old Norwegian Cast-On.

Some of the instructions for the trellis pattern (particularly the beginnings and endings of some rows) are a leap of faith. Just following the pattern as carefully as possible. So far, it seems to be working out.

The rounds with cabling on every stitch are tedious. I’m cabling without a cable needle, but even so, it seems to take forever. I’ll be glad to get on to the next part of the hat, but I’m a little nervous about knitting through the back loop. I don’t think I’ve done much of that before…

Knitting through the back loop is a breeze! The ribbing portion could hardly be easier, so long as you don’t mind purling.

Once you get through the lattice portion, the hat moves along quickly.

I followed ehalf’s edits to decrease more quickly for a less pointy crown.

I’m not sure exactly how much I used of the second skein, but it was very, very little.

I’ll get Donald to try it on tonight, but I think it’ll fit him. (It fits me pretty well, and I have a bigger noggin than he does, so it should work out just fine.) I hope he’ll enjoy it. :o) Of course, he’ll probably have to wait until next winter to have a chance to wear it…
