I’m using up remnants of some “kitchen cotton” yarn to make simple pot-holders/fabric trivets.

No pattern-- just chain up to about 29 (or whatever size desired), then work “linked double crochet” back and forth until it’s roughly a square. Single crochet around the edge to even out the selvedges, weave in the tails, and it’s done.
