I’m joining these “granny-style ogee” motifs into strips as I go (more or less) and will join the strips into an afghan when I have enough of them. I haven’t decided yet about a border or whether to make half motifs to even out two of the edges.
I’m using a lot of colors and brands of worsted weight acrylic yarn from my stash-- some of which are not labelled (either lost along the way or came to me that way). For curiosity’s sake, I’ll list them the best I can, below.
Impeccable:
Arbor Rose
Claret
Rouge
Grape
I Love This Yarn!:
Red (not sure of name)
Paprika
Banana
Antique Taupe
Rouge
Aubergine
Vanna’s Choice:
Magenta
Caron One Pound:
Sunflower
Taupe
Red Heart:
Burgundy
Plus cream, oddments of beige, dark maroon that feels like Red Heart, and a dark violet-red ILTY of unknown name.
After seeing that others making similar blankets had arranged their ogee motifs with the strips of motifs running diagonally, instead of vertically or horizontally, I decided to do the same.
I’m joining my strips of motifs using the “Completely Flat Zipper Method”, with a 5.0mm hook (size H) and ILTY in “Ivory”.
I used the same yarn to add a simple edging. Two rounds of single crochet. In the second round, I worked “sc two sc together” over the slight gaps where two motifs came together.
