I’m making this square for my “Be of Good Cheer” Samplerghan. :o)
If this motif works out, I’ll edit the “where’s it from” info. For now, I’m holding off, because it will require me to enter all the pattern info into Ravelry. (It’s not currently in the database.) For now, I’ll just mention that it’s a small (roughly 6”) rose-themed granny from BH&G’s Forever Favorite Crochet. I’m planning to either enlarge one of the motifs with extra rounds or make four squares to join together into a single 12” block. Depends on how big the first one comes out.
I decided to make four amended motifs joined into a 12” block.
I worked the pattern as written until the dc “granny square” round, which I switched down to a hdc granny round. I took the “join-as-you-go” approach during that hdc round, then added another two rounds-- one mostly dc with a few 4-dc popcorn sts thrown in, and another mostly dc with a few FPdc in between the popcorn sts on the previous round.
41 sts per side on last round (counting each corner st twice).
