Hm… This one has an interesting texture, but I have to admit that I didn’t quite love crocheting the fletching stitch (which is the name the designer gave to a group of stitches for ease of reference).

I’m always slightly nervous about stitches where you have to wing it as to how far to pull up a loop, and the fletching stitch requires that kind of intuition-- and it requires some level of consistency, to look its best.

Also, it felt like it took me for-EV-er to crochet this block (probably because I was too willing to set it aside).

…But it is an interesting-looking block. Distinctive. Would be great for a “man-’ghan”.

My second block went much more smoothly-- much faster, too. Maybe having finished the first one made me faster and more confident on the second block… Or maybe I was more motivated (and chose better background-entertainment for crocheting-- i.e. something less distracting and better for just listening to).

In any case, while I doubt I’d ever have the appetite to make a whole afghan of this block, my appreciation of it has increased.
