I’m making this square for my “Be of Good Cheer” Samplerghan. :o)

This square felt a little complicated to crochet, in spots, with all the “repeat from this point X number of times” and markers. A chart would’ve made it much easier. Still, it goes together logically enough. I suspect that I’m just lazy about reading and following long written instructions for afghan blocks. (g) At some point, I just decide I know where the pattern’s going and stop reading…

That said…
I think there’s an error in the free PDF version of the pattern I was using. The second round of the border… There seems to be something off in the corners. The tr and dtr are reversed or something. I’ve read that part of the pattern a few times, so I think I understand what it says to do-- but it looked wrong worked as written, so I changed it by simply working a dtr where the pattern indicated a tr-- and vice versa.

Added rounds as needed to increase size to a 12” square.

42 sts per side on last round (counting each center corner st twice).
