This hat has been in my queue for a while; its time has come! ;o) The project name comes from Thoroughly Modern Millie, because the style of the hat reminds me of flappers and the Roaring 20’s.

I crocheted this in a “continuous round”-- a spiral-- instead of slip stitching to join and chaining up at the beginning of each round. Added one “even”/no-increase round. (And now I’m debating whether or not I should’ve added that round… It might have been deep enough without it.)

This was my first time using a J hook is years, I think, and it felt so weird at first! I’ve gotten used to a G or an H for worsted weight yarn, but I decided to try the recommended J, because I need this hat to fit a young child instead of a toddler. I ended up swapping down to a size I hook instead.

Works up very quickly. Could easily whip up more than one in a lazy afternoon. The only hard part is estimating the head size of the intended recipient…
