Notes

Ashputtel is a story in the Cinderella family, and to me the key character in these sorts of fairytales is the Fairy Godmother, even though she doesn’t have a name of her own. So here is Part 2 of the Fairy Tales series, based this time on the fairy godmother role. Loosely. Not the ‘glow-in-the-dark-wand waving’ kind, more the ‘helping hand when you need it most’ kind.. Something all of us have experienced at some time or another.

Optional plain section, beads, and two laces what can be repeated, worked in either order, or simply one used by itself as an elegant edging.

These two laces are some of the beautiful stitch patterns Naomi Parkhurst (Gannet Designs) has very generously given into the public domain on her website (stringgeekery.wordpress.com ). I modified the edging slightly, and the top one a little more to jigsaw them together. :) Thanks Naomi - I’ve been wanting to make this shawl ever since I first saw Summer, but probably wouldn’t have if you hadn’t been so encouraging during the GAL. :)

Beading calculations:
If you were to work this as all over lace your head usage would looks about like, this

Rep 1: 12 beads
Rep 2: 20 (32 total)
Rep 3: 28 (60)
Rep 4: 36 (96)
Rep 5: 44 (140)
Rep 6: 50 (190)
Rep 7: 56 (246)
Rep 8: 62 (308)
And so on.
