This is my very simple basic easy baby sweater - knit the back to shoulders, continue knitting down each front, pick up stitches evenly each side of shoulder line, knit straight for the correct length as needed, reduce stitches evenly across cuff (about 8 stitches) then sew or crochet up sleeve and side seam. Sometimes I knit both back and fronts in one piece to armholesthen knit separately to shoulder, three needle cast/bind off at shoulder seams, then follow for sleeves as mentioned. Then I knit bands/collar by picking up stitches, sometimes I crochet around the edges. Booties were taken from Precious Layettes for Babies by Leisure Arts
