Notes

Loved this scarf - BUT - decided not to do the “holey” pattern for the full length - a) because it was tedious and b) because it would have been too thick around the neck part - SO - I did garter stitch for the centre, with ten pattern repeats of the holes at each end.

Another modification I did - the second set of holes calls for a casting off of 8 stitches right at the end of the row - which made it look peculiar (see picture in pattern instructions sheet) so I eliminated that last hole and had 14 stitches of garter stitch each end instead - as you can see from my pics it made for a much neater edge (IMHO)

Now I would not recommend this for a beginner - although no mention is made about this in the pattern instructions, there are certain tricks and twists to making the holes when casting back on in the second row to avoid unsightly gaps and unwanted holes - I developed a little trick to eliminating “gaps” at the corner of each hole. It took a while to get this right though…..well worth the extra time and thought.

After washing and blocking, the scarf opened up and lengthened out ( bit scary that part was!) it looks divine - I am so pleased with it and hope Cheryl will be too!

The Spotlight Merino is a pure Australian wool - it is not 8 ply though even though Ravelry says it is - I used a 3 mm needle and it was a delight to knit with….

The Colour No. is 07; the Dyelot was 709317
