Dad is weird to knit for. He’s built like a Tolkein dwarf -- short, barrel-chested, muscular arms. So, you need to be careful to make sure that whatever you do isn’t too bulky.

I’ve been working on a swatch for this yarn and came up with 5 stitches to the inch, which seems weird to me. I knit really loose and Aran weight yarn should be more like 4 stitches to the inch. I was doing it in dps because I didn’t want to knit a huge swatch. I’m starting on another one and am going to practice the pattern I intend to use on the front panel of the sweater. Haven’t decided yet whether or not to have any sort of cables up the sleeves.
