My husband is an alumni (and huge fan) of Georgia Tech (and their football team). I improvised the Georgia Tech logo on a scarf for him to wear on game days!
Scarf is double knit, so it is extra cozy and has that nice reversible feel. It was also knit on size 3 needles… so it took a long time to finish. In the end he loved it, and the time was well worth it.
Basic Pattern
Georgia Tech Game Day Scarf by Lindsay Starrett (Olallie-O).
note: This project was double knit using the two colors… so each stitch for me was really two stitches (a knit of the main color followed by a purl of the other color) but could be done in single knit if you wanted to line the back of the scarf with a nice fleece.
Finished project is 6in wide x 67in long
-Cast on 62 stitches for double knitting (31 for single knit). This gives you a 2 stitch border around your GT which is worked over 27 stitches.
-I started the scarf with five rows of background color followed by the GT (grid in photo… be sure to start from the base of the T so it will be going the right direction).
-After the GT I knit 16 rows of background color.
-I then alternate colors every ten rows until it was at the desired length.
-16 more rows of background followed by the GT, starting from the top of the G.
-5 more rows of background color to finish, and bind off. :)
